Toyota Requests Acceleration Suits be Thrown Out
Toyota Motors has requested that many of the acceleration lawsuits filed against them in federal court be thrown out. The company claims many of the plaintiffs have "never identified any defect in the electronic controls nor have they ever actually experienced sudden, unintended acceleration." Toyota has already settled one suit filed by the family of a California man who was killed when his Toyota suddenly accelerated, causing a crash. The federal government estimates it has received about 3,000 acceleration complaints, USA Today reports.
